Raw food makes my palate happy. I love eating sashimi, fresh oysters, kinilaw na pugita and kinilaw na dilis. I don’t know about you, but the taste of the sea is something I find hard to resist. I first had a taste of Kinilaw na Dilis when my uncle prepared it for lunch when I was a kid. Everyone was hesitant to touch it so out of curiosity I gave it a try. To my surprise, it was delicious! lol I ate more than what I should have. It was supposed to be for everyone, but I ended up eating half of the kinilaw, that’s how much I like it!


Half  kilo anchovies or dilis

2-3 tablespoons minced ginger

1 large white onion chopped
2 pieces siling labuyo sliced thinly
1 red bell pepper chopped (optional)
4-5 tablespoons calamansi juice

1/2 cup vinegar
salt and pepper to taste


  1. Wash the fish and remove the heads, bones and innards. Then rinse.
  2. In a bowl, add fish, chopped onion, ginger, siling labuyo and mix.
  3. Add the calamansi juice and vinegar and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  4. Serve chilled (or not)
