Ssamjang is a spicy paste used in Korean cuisines such as samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) and seogogi gui (grilled beef). While you can buy a pre-made spicy dipping sauce in Korean grocery stores, it is cheaper and healthier if you do it yourself!

  • 1/4 cup doenjang (fermented soybean paste) Korean condiments and spices are often found in selected stores in the PH, if you can’t find it you can opt for the regular fermented soybeans or yellow beans (used to make tausi) found in the local market. Just mash the beans to make a paste.

  • 1-2 tbs sugar or honey

  • 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and serve with lettuce and grilled pork belly.
